Acrylates copolymer: Ingredient used in styling products to add body, provide hold and protect hair from humidity.

Algae: Chondrus crispus (Irish moss): Derived from red macro-algae; moisturizes, conditions and soothes. Also used to treat
chapped skin.
Dermochlorella: Derived from green micro-algae; hydrates, nourishes, detoxifies, firms and stimulates cell regeneration.
Enteromorpha compressa: Derived from green macro-algae; softens, calms and is anti-inflammatory.
Spirulina maxima: Derived from blue-green micro-algae; anti-aging, skin firming and mineral-rich.
Ulva lactuca (sea lettuce): Derived from green macro-algae; nourishes, hydrates and is anti-inflammatory.
Alkyl benzoate: Derived from vegetable fats and corn sugars; water dispersant that helps release vegetable oils from fabric
and linens.
Allantoin: Derived from comfrey root; promotes healing, protects and softens, anti-inflammatory.
Almond meal (prunus amygdalus dulcis): Derived from almonds; gentle exfoliation, deep pore cleansing.
Almond oil (prunus amygdalus dulcis): Derived from almonds; smoothes, softens, and protects.
Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice: Derived from the leaf; rich in vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, proteins,
humectants, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.
Alpha beta hydroxy acid complex: Derived from citric acid (citrus fruit), lactic acid (fermented vegetables), malic acid
(apples and cherries); exfoliates, refines and clears skin.
Alpha hydroxy acids: Derived from fruit; aids in the regeneration of surface cells, making skin radiant and fresh.
Alpha lipoic acid: Derived from vegetables; antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, smoothes and tones.
Alpine lichen (usnea barbata): Derived from tree moss; beneficial for its anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-yeast properties.
Althea (althea officinalis): Derived from marshmallow root; soothes inflammation and irritation, calms and softens.
Aminomethyl propanol: Mild ingredient in styling products; emulsifying, provides pH balance, and neutralizes alkaline in
acid-function hair fixatives.
Amodimethicone: Dimethicone (derived from silica) with amino acid (lysine); provides a soft, silky feel.
Angelica (angelica archangelica): Derived from angelica root; soothing, anti-inflammatory and provides natural fragrance.
Annatto (bixa orellana): Derived from the seeds; provides natural coloring.
Apricot kernel oil (prunus armeniaca): Derived from apricot seeds; smoothes, softens, and protects.
Arginine (amino acid): Derived from nuts and soybeans; skin and hair conditioner.
Arnica (arnica montana): Derived from Arnica flowers; calms skin inflammations, promotes circulation, soothes sore muscles

Ascorbic acid (vitamin C): Derived from citrus fruit; anti-oxidant and natural preservative.
Avobenzone (Parsol 1789): Skin friendly sunscreen that protects skin against UVA and UVB sun rays.
Avocado oil (persea gratissima): Derived from avocado kernels; nourishes, smoothes, and softens.
Awaphui (zingiber zerumbet): Derived from Hawaiian wild ginger; promotes healing as well as soothes, softens, and adds shine
to hair.
Azulene: Derived from chamomile; anti-inflammatory, detoxifies, provides natural color.

Babassu seed oil (orbignya oleifera): Derived from the fruit kernel; emollient, moisturizing.
Babassuamidopropalkonium chloride: Derived from babassu oil; hair conditioning and antistatic agent.
Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate): Non-irritating, balances pH, cleanses and absorbs odor.
Balm mint (melissa officinalis): Derived from lemon balm; clarifies, soothes, tones and calms skin and scalp.
Basil (ocimum basilicum): Derived from the herb; stimulates circulation, relaxing and clearing.
Beeswax (cera alba): Derived from honeycomb; emollient, nourishes, moisturizes and softens.
Benzophenone-3: Skin friendly sunscreen; blocks UVA and UVB rays from damaging skin. Used in cream products.
Benzophenone-4: Skin friendly sunscreen; Used in liquid and hair products. Protects hair colors, whether natural or chemically
treated from the sun's harmful UVA and UVB rays.
Benzyl alcohol: Derived from jasmine flowers or almond oil; safe, natural, food-grade preservative.
Bergamot (cirtus bergamia): Derived from the rind of the fruit; balancing, relaxing and anti-bacterial.
Beta Carotene (pro-vitamin A): Derived from carrots; cell rejuvenation, antioxidant and moisturizes.
Beta-glucan: Active ingredient in oats; promotes healing, stimulates collagen synthesis, promotes cellular turnover, protects
and moisturizes the skin.
Biosaccharide gum: Derived from a mixture of sugars; conditions and softens skin.
Biotin (pro-vitamin B): Derived from yeast; provides body and shine to hair.
Birch leaf (betula alba): Derived from the tree; conditioning, toning and astringent properties.
Bisabolol (chamomile): Active ingredient in chamomile flowers; soothing, anti-inflammatory and regenerating.
Black Pepper (piper nigrum): Derived from peppercorns; stimulates circulation, useful for massage.
Blue-green algae (algae extract): Derived from algae; provides natural green and blue colorants.
Borage oil (borago officinalis): Derived from the borage seed; regenerates, rich in essential fatty acids.
Botanical fragrance: Unique fragrance blends with proprietary combinations of natural aroma compounds. These natural
aroma compounds may consist of a variety of components isolated from natural materials such as those found in essential oils.
The natural perfumes do not contain phthalates or animal byproducts.
Bromelain: Derived from the pineapple fruit; enzyme with exfoliating properties.
Burdock root (articum lappa): Derived from root, seed, and leaves of the Chinese burdock plant; soothing, healing, and
detoxifying.
Butcher's broom (ruscus aculeatus): Derived from European plant; ant-inflammatory, improves circulation.
Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane: Skin friendly sunscreen which provides optimum benefits and full spectrum protection
against the damaging effects of sun exposure.
Butylene glycol: Effective humectant for hair care.
Butyrospermum parkii (shea butter): Derived from the karite fruit on the African mangifolia tree; heals, soothes, protects and
adds shine to hair.

Calcium pantothenate (vitamin B complex): Derived from rice bran and molasses; moisturizing emollient and thickener.
Calendula officinalis (calendula): Derived from the flower; soothes, softens and heals.
Camellia sinensis (green tea): Derived from the leaf; antioxidant, protects from free-radical damage, anti-inflammatory,
repairs and strengthens.
Camellia sinensis (white tea): Derived from the sun dried leaf; with twice the antioxidants as green tea, protects from
free-radical damage, repairs and strengthens.
Camphor (cinnamomum camphora): Derived from the bark of the evergreen tree; tonic and freshener, has anti-inflammatory
and antiseptic properties.
Cananga ordorata (ylang ylang) flower oil: Derived from the flower; balances, tones and soothes.
Candelilla wax (euphorbia cerifera): Derived from the candelilla shrub; used to harden waxes for lip balms. Moisturizes and
protects.
Caprylic/capric triglyceride: Derived from palm or coconut oil; used as an emulsifier and emollient.
Caramel: Derived from heated sugar solutions; provides a natural brown coloring.
Carbomer: Derived from (vegetable) cellulose; Thickener and stabilizer, used to help prolong the shelf life of personal care
products.
Carica papaya fruit extract: Derived from the fruit; vitamin-rich, cleansing, exfoliating, humectant and is an emollient.
Carnauba wax (copernicia cerifera): Derived from palm leaves; used for gloss and texture in lip balms.
Carrot oil (daucus carota sativa): Derived from the carrot; rich in vitamin A, nourishing and provides natural coloring.
Castor oil (ricinus communis): Derived from the castor bean; used for soothing properties.
Castor wax (ricinus communis):Derived from the castor bean; emollient and moisturizing.
Cedarwood (juniperus virginiana): Derived from the plant; astringent, balancing and relaxing.
Centella asiastica (gotu kola) extract: Derived from an herb native to India; rejuvenates and heals.
Certified organic: A product labeled "certified organic" means that its ingredients have been grown and handled according
to strict OTA (Organic Trade Association) standards without toxic and chemical inputs. Certification of these ingredients
include inspections of farm fields and processing facilities, detailed record keeping, and periodic testing of soil and water to
ensure that farmers are meeting OTA standards.
Ceteareth-20: Derived from a blend of cetyl and stearyl alcohol's from coconut oil; emollient.
Cetearyl alcohol: Derived from from coconut oil; emollient and emulsifier. Provides a creaminess to products.
Cetrimonium chloride: Derived from coconut; conditioning, softening, and flyaway reducer.
Cetyl alcohol: Derived from coconut oil; thickener, emollient and emulsifier.
Cetyl betaine (vegetable): Derived from the common beet; provides texture, softens and conditions hair.
Cetyl ricinoleate (ricinus communis): Derived from castor beans; an emollient.
Chamomile (chamomilla recutita): Derived from the flower; soothing, anti-infammatory, regenerating and adds shine to hair.

Cocamidopropyl betaine: Derived from coconut; safe, skin-friendly cleanser for both skin and hair that effectively removes

Cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine: Derived from coconut; mild, effective cleanser.
Cocoa butter (theobroma cacao): Derived from roasted cocoa seeds; nutrient-rich emollient and skin moisturizer.
Coconut extract (cocos nucifera): Derived from coconut; moisturizes and provides natural fragrance.

DMAE (dimethylaminoethanol): Derived from soy; firms, tones and retains skin's elasticity.

Echinacea (echinacea purpurea): Derived from the herb; detoxifying, healing and immune stimulant.
Elderflower (sambucus nigra): Derived from the herb; cleansing and soothing.
Emulsifying wax: Derived from cetearyl alcohol (coconut oil derived) and polysorbate (fatty acid derived); used to facilitate
the coupling of water-soluble with water insoluble ingredients in formulation.
Enteromorpha compressa: Derived from green macro-algae; softens, calms and is anti-inflammatory.
Erythrulose: Derived from vegetable (beets); active ingredient which reacts with the keratin protein in the topmost dead skin
layers to produce a natural color, providing a safe sunless self-tan.
Ester C (mineral ascorbates): Derived from citrus fruits; patented mineral salt of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) with C metabolites
allowing the cellular uptake of vitamin C within dermal layers.

Glycine soja (soybean) oil: Derived from the bean; rich in fatty acids and vitamin E, moisturizes.
Glycol stearate: Derived from vegetable oils; humectant and emollient.
Golden seal (hydrastis canadensis): Derived from plant root; anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and cleansing.

Grape skin extract (vitis vinifera): Derived from the skin of the grape; nutrient rich emollient, natural coloring and natural

Grapefruit (citrus paradisi): Derived from the rind of the grapefruit; astringent, clarifying and uplifting.
Grapefruit (seed) extract (citrus grandis): Derived from grapefruit seeds; anti-bacterial and cleansing.
Green tea (camellia sinensis): Derived from the plant leaf; antioxidant, protects from free-radical damage, anti-inflammatory,
repairs and strengthens.
Ground oatmeal (avena sativa): Derived from oats; adds texture, exfoliates, smoothes, and softens.

Helianthus annuus (sunflower) oil: Derived from the seed; contains large amounts of vitamin E, softens and protects.
Hibiscus (hibiscus sabdariffa): Derived from the flower; cleansing, soothing and moisturizing.
Homosalate: Skin friendly sunscreen which provides optimum benefits and full spectrum protection against the damaging
effects of sun exposure.
Honey: A by-product of bees concentrating plant nectars; nutrient-rich emollient and humectant.
Honeysuckle (lonicera caprifolium): Derived from the plant; smoothes and softens.
Hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate): Derived from sugar beets & soy; humectant, regulates the level of hydration of skin. It
forms a moisturizing, non occlusive layer of moisture on the skin.
Hybrid safflower oil: Derived from safflower seeds (a variety high in oleic acid) emollient, nourishing, protectant.
Hydrogenated castor oil: Derived from castor beans; natural replacement for petroleum jelly, increases viscosity, moisturizes
and protects; natural fragrance solubalizier.
Hydrolyzed oats: Derived from oats; adds texture and thickens hair, soothes, softens, and nourishes.
Hydrosol: The certified organic distillate collected after passing steam through plant material and cooling the vapor that
contains the plant extract. Hydrosol is a semi-solid, colloidal solution comprised of condensed steam, essential oils and other
plant extract materials. Hydrosol is pure distillate and is neither further manufactured, enhanced, nor diluted.
Hydroxy-methylcellulose: Derived from wood pulp (glycine amino acid); adds body to hair.
Hydroxyethylcellulose: emulsifier, thickener.
Hypo-allergenic: This term is applied to a product in which care has been taken in ingredient selection, and formulation to
ensure minimum incidence of allergic reactions.

Inositol: Derived from corn (vitamin B factor); protects hair and skin cells against damage from toxins.
Irish moss (chondrus crispus): Derived from red macro-algae; moisturizes, conditions and soothes. Also used to treat chapped
skin.
Iron oxides: Derived from iron combined with oxygen; provides natural mineral coloring for cosmetics.
Isopropyl palmitate: Derived from palm oil; skin conditioner and emollient.

Jasmine oil (jasmine officinale): Derived from the distillation of the flower; soothing and moisturizing.

Jojoba wax (buxux chinensis): A semisolid fraction of jojoba oil; derived from bean of desert plant; adds texture for gentle

Juglans regia (walnut) powder: Derived from the hulls; adds texture for gentle exfoliation.

Kaolin clay: Derived from China clay; oil absorbing, deep cleansing, and purifying.

Lactic acid: Derived from fermented vegetables; exfoliates, refines and clears skin.
Laminaria digitata: Derived from kelp; highly moisturizing, smoothing and firming.
Lanolin: Derived from sheared sheep wool; emollient and emulsifier.
Lauryl polyglucose: Derived from cornstarch and fatty alcohols; gentle cleanser, and foaming agent.
Lavandula angustifolia (lavender): Derived from the flower; antiseptic, cleanses, balances, soothes and heals.
Lavender (lavandula officinalis): Derived from the flower; antiseptic, cleanses, balances, soothes and heals.
Lavender hydrosol (lavandula officinalis): Whole juice derived from the flower; cleanses, balances, soothes and heals. The
hydrosol is the distillate collected after passing steam through plant material and cooling the vapor that contains the plant
extract. Hydrosol is a semi-solid, colloidal solution comprised of condensed steam, essential oils and other plant extract
materials. Hydrosol is pure distillate and is neither further manufactured, enhanced, nor diluted.
Lecithin: Derived from soybeans; anti-oxidant, emulsifier and anti-oxidant.
Lecithin liposomes: Time-released anti-oxidant liposomes, containing vitamin E and A, Gingko biloba, grapeseed and green
tea. Provides moisture to skin.
Lemon (citrus limonum): Derived from the rind of the lemon; refreshing, anti-bacterial, clarifies and cleanses.
Lemon balm (melissa officinalis): Derived from the herb; antiseptic, clarifies, refreshes, calms, detoxifies and soothes.
Lemon bioflavonoids: Derived from lemon fruits; antioxidant, protects from free radical damage, aides vitamin C performance.
Lemon peel (citrus medica limonum): Derived from the rind of the lemon; exfoliating, clarifies and cleanses.
Lemongrass: Derived from lemongrass plant; refreshing, toning, antiseptic and soothes muscle aches.
Licorice (glycyrrhiza glabra): Derived from plant; used for its natural antibacterial, anti-inflammatory properties, brightening
and clarifying.
Lime (citrus aurantifolia): Provides amino acids for healthy skin renewal, detoxifies, stimulates circulation and is soothing.
Linden flower (tilia cordata): Derived from linden flowers; calming, soothing, relaxing, protects skin and hair.
Linum usitatissimum (flaxseed) oil: Derived from the plant; rich in fatty acid, nourishes and soothes.
Lipo-filling complex (saccharomyces/xylinum, black tea ferment and hydroxyethylcellulose): Visibly enhances luminosity, clarity
and tone for smooth, fresh skin.
Liposomes: Derived from a mixture of water and phospholipids; able to absorb water soluble nutrients and vitamins and store
them. Once applied to skin and hair stored nutrients and vitamins are released.
Liposomes of superoxide dismutase: Antioxidant, which protects skin from free radicals.
Locust bean gum (ceratonia siliqua): Derived from the seed of the carob tree; humectant, moisturizer and smoothing.
Lonicera caprifolium (honeysuckle): Derived from the flower; smoothes and softens.

Macadamia nut oil (macadamia integrifolia): Derived from the nut; high in palmitoleic acid, vitamin-rich, emollient and
soothes.
Macrocystis pyrifera: Derived from kelp; softening and nourishing; helps skin retain moisture; rich in vitamins and minerals.
Maddar root (rubia tinctorum): Derived from plant; provides natural red and purple colorants.
Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (vitamin C): Derived from citrus fruits; Readily utilized by the skin cells, this powerful
antioxidant promotes circulation, stimulates collagen and elastin production. It is one of the most stable forms of vitamin C
and will remain active over the shelf life of the product.

pH balanced: pH is the abbreviation for potential for hydrogen. The higher the pH reading, the more alkaline and oxygen rich

Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate vs. Sodium lauryl sulfate: Although an ingredient's name may sound similar to another, it does not
mean that the molecules are similar with respect to shape, size, performance or even function. Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate
sounds similar to Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, however, the two molecules are quite different from each other. Sodium Lauryl
Sulfoacetate is a large molecule ingredient. Large molecule ingredients are considered to be mild, gentle, and non-irritating,
as they cannot penetrate the skin. In contrast, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is a small molecule ingredient, and is capable of
